The Journal-Courier Girls' Basketball Player of the Year is ...
Comments 0 | Recommend 0... Melissa Nichols. Nichols, a senior guard at Routt Catholic High School, led the Lady Rockets to the state finals for the second year in a row. She didn�t score as much as some other players (8.9 ppg), but Nichols did lead the area in assists (5.5 apg), and she made the biggest shot of the season, a game-winning 3-pointer against Greenfield in the sectional championship game. Nichols was a JJC first-teamer in both her sophomore and junior seasons, and is the second Routt player in consecutive seasons to be named JJC Player of the Year after Jaclyn Meado earned the honor last year.
