Lady Rockets talk about their 2008 run to state

Jacksonville Journal-Courier

An up-and-down regular season was capped by a run to the state finals this season as the Routt Catholic Lady Rockets finished fourth at state, just one year after taking third. Here is what the Lady Rockets themselves had to say about this season: This season was so much fun. I love every single one of the girls, and I wasnt great friends with a lot of them before, but now Im really good friends with all of them. freshman Autumn Brown I thought that it was very awesome, intense. We all worked hard and got a lot done. freshman Alex Worrell It was amazing. It was one of the best experiences of my life. I love these girls to death and I wouldnt be able to play basketball without them. freshman Chelsey Davis It was really fun and exciting. All the people and the games that we won and going to state (made it fun). freshman Kelly Lonergan It was just good getting to know all the girls a little better and just a great atmosphere. It was awesome getting to play with them. freshman Erica White It was really exciting and really fun. Nobody really thought that we would go that far, but actually, we did. We just tried our best. sophomore Sam Heimgartner This season was pretty amazing. We had some rocky times, we had some good times, but overall, it was just pretty amazing. sophomore Brittany Zenge This season was wonderful. Its a great group of girls, I had fun with all of them. We were successful, so it was just a good time. sophomore Morgan Eilering At first we kind of started off and we were a little rocky and we werent really playing together, and we finally pulled it together for the postseason and started playing better. sophomore Katie Lindsey It was pretty sweet. It was tough at first, losing a lot of people from last year, but a lot of people stepped up and made it a good year. senior Lauren Gregory It was really fun. We werent really sure how good we were going to be at first, but we ended up going to state again, so it was really exciting. senior Haley Leefers We picked it up at the end of the year and definitely showed what we could do. We made it to state, so that made it all the better. senior Melissa Nichols Overall, it was a great experience. Im happy for the girls. I know coming into it, nobody really gave them the time of day, but they kind of proved everybody wrong, and overall, we got where we wanted to be, so I couldnt be prouder. assistant coach Val Creviston Really, it was just a dream come true. Never in my wildest dreams did I think wed end up at Redbird Arena. We had our ups and downs, but all in all, they just stuck together, and it was just a wonderful ending. head coach Joe Eilering It was a great run. It was a pleasure to be along as the athletic director. Theyre all fine young ladies and they upheld the name of Routt. athletic director Barry Creviston
