Roundup: Greenfield beats ISD

GREENFIELD-NORTHWESTERN 53, ISD 13
Greenfield scored 38 points in the first quarter en route to a big win over the Illinois School for the Deaf Tigers Friday night in Palmyra.

T.J. Bouillon and Klayton Hubbard each scored twice for Greenfield in the first quarter. Tanner Clagg, Jonathan Dugger and Gage Braley also scored for the Tigers.

ISD’s Michael Morris scored on a 74-yard kickoff return in the first quarter and on a 1-yard run late in the fourth quarter.

Greenfield is 8-1. ISD finished its season at 0-9.

PLEASANT HILL-WESTERN 26, WEST CENTRAL 16
West Central made a late run, but the Pleasant Hill Wolves held off the Cougars to win their fourth game of the season.

Keaton Baker scored on a short-yardage rushing touchdown early in the first quarter, and Evan Borrowman caught an 85-yard touchdown pass from Dylan McKinnon.

West Central scored 16 points in the third quarter, with Ryan Jefferson scoring on a 3-yard run and on a 48-yard pass from Jordan Boehs. But Pleasant Hill put the game away with touchdown runs by Jeremy Holland and Jake Yanczer.

BROWN COUNTY 57, NORTH GREENE 29
North Greene’s spread offense gave Brown County fits, but the Hornets’ powerful rushing game prevailed.

Brown County piled up 501 yards, mostly on the ground. North Greene finished with negative rushing yardage, but 256 passing yards.

Each team returned a kickoff for a touchdown, and Brown County scored on a safety. Quintin Bradbury scored twice for Brown County and Chris Meyer scored twice for North Greene. The Spartans’ Anthony Willeford threw three touchdowns.

Brown County improved to 7-2 with the win, while North Greene fell to 1-8.

ROUTT 39, BUNKER HILL 14
Ben Heinemann threw three second-half touchdown passes and ran for another in the first half as the Routt Rockets improved to 8-1 with a win over the Bunker Hill Minutemen Friday.

Brandon Hungerford caught two of Heinemann’s passing touchdowns, and the other went to Mike Tonry, who also scored a rushing touchdown. Quinn Yording returned an interception for a touchdown, and Routt also scored a safety.

PLEASANT PLAINS 41, RUSHVILLE-INDUSTRY 12
Rushville’s 18-year streak of postseason appearances officially came to an end Friday with a loss to Pleasant Plains.

Plains took a commanding lead early and got a running clock in the fourth quarter. The Rockets were able to score two late touchdowns, however. Kyle Briney scored on a 70-yard run and Alex McKelvey found the end zone on a 15-yard run for Rushville, both in the fourth quarter.

Plains improved to 8-1 with the win. Rushville ended its season at 2-7.
