JULIE WILLIAMS
Greenfield
What she did: Williams led the Lady Tigers to a key Western Illinois Valley Conference win over the West Central Lady Cougars last week before guiding her team to first-place finish at the Pleasant Plains Tournament last weekend. Greenfield now holds a record of 11-1.
Williams on how she and the Lady Tigers did it: “It was a pretty tough week and the girls just put it in their minds that this was something they wanted to do. They wanted to continue a winning tradition at the Pleasant Plains Tournament and they want to keep winning in the conference, so it was a total team effort.”
Williams on winning the tournament for a fourth consecutive year: “This was one of the girls’ goals this year. They wanted to win the Pleasant Plains Tournament. The first couple games went pretty well, then we kind of ran into a Pleasant Plains buzzsaw, and we lost in three games, but we came back and beat them again before we beat Pawnee.”
Williams on the Lady Tigers 11-1 start: “That’s been one of our goals, to come out strong and to always play to the best of our ability. It’s nice to be 11-1, but we’ve got to keep improving so that we can continue to win and reach our postseason goals.”
Williams on keeping it up: “We’ve got to continue passing. We’ve got to continue to be aggressive. Sometimes we get a little timid, so we’ve got keep up our passing and stay aggressive at the net.”
