JHS girls' tennis team handles Decatur MacArthur

The Jacksonville girls' tennis team handily defeated Decatur MacArthur 7-2, but the matches were anything but easy. At No. 1 singles, Kate Jolly defeated Stephanie Carson after losing the first set 6-0. Jolly came back to win the second set 6-3, then took the tiebreaker (10-3).

JHS' Liz Findley lost her first set at No. 2, but she came back for a 2-6, 6-2 (11-9) victory over Kelsie Robinson. Findley experienced some soreness in her shoulder and opted not to compete in doubles.

Jacksonville freshman Paige Loughary had no trouble at No. 3, easily handling Janie Morris 6-2, 6-0. It was a long day of competition for Loughary, who finished ninth out of 25 girls in the CS8 golf tournament early Wednesday morning. Loughary has been playing both sports this fall.
