TAYLOR JACOBS

A-C Central/Virginia

What she did: Jacobs played a key role in four A-C Central wins over the past week, including a two-game conference victory over Calhoun. Jacobs also helped the Lady Knights to a 3-2 record and a ninth-place finish at the Mount Pulaski Tournament. Jacobs posted 38 kills and was named to the all-tournament team.

Jacobs on how she did it: “It was tough. I tried everything I could. Coach (Kristy) VanMeter helped me out a lot. She said that every team knows that our setter is going to get it to me, and that I had to figure out how to get it down, so Coach VanMeter helped me out on that one.”

Jacobs on playing in the Mount Pulaski Tournament: “We were actually the smallest school there, by nine (students), and we played Bloomington High School, which has like 1,500 kids. We talked to some of those girls, and they thought it was crazy we were in the tournament. But tournaments like that are the best because we get the most experience.”

Jacobs on being named to the all-tournament team: “It’s awesome. It feels pretty good, but that tournament — I didn’t know about it until we were on the bus and coach brought out my medal and gave it to me.”

VanMeter on Jacobs: “Taylor worked really hard at that tournament and there were a lot of big teams height-wise, and she did a really good job of working around the blocks and changing up her hits. She worked very hard to get the hits that she got and she worked hard to help out the team.”
